The instruction to jailbreak the iPhone 3GS on iOs 5.0 firmware using Redsn0w for Windows are mentioned below. This method will upgrade baseband by ruining your choices for unlock. This jailbreak is tethered which in other words mean that it will require your computer to connect with the device whenever you reboot it.
First step:
Make a folder named as “Pwnage” on the desktop. Download redsn0w and place it in there. Extract this zip file here.
Second Step:
Connect iPhone and launch iTunes.
Select your iPhone from the left now press Shift with restore button.
Navigate Pwnage folder and select 5.0 firmware ipsw. Now click choose.
iTunes will now update your iPhone to the new firmware.
Step Three
Launch the redsn0w application from the redsn0w folder we extracted earlier.
Fourth Step:
When redsn0w will open then click n jailbreak.
Fifth Step:
Plug iPhone in the computer and turn it off. Click on Next.
