Should Mobile Payment Apps Be Used?

by Sameer Ahmed on July 16, 2012

Being able to pay through a mobile is great.  Paying the electric bill or sending money to a new account all through a mobile app seems to be one of the best abilities everyone can do.  It is simple, it is easy and it will be something that dominates the wave lengths for years to come because mobile banking is the new wave of today and having the technology to send and receive money faster and easier is something everyone wants.  However, what so many people do not think about is when the time comes; do they have the right equipment?

Some smart phones of today will have but some don’t and for the ones that don’t, their users will be left sorely disappointed.  However, it does seem to be that more mobile paying apps are becoming available yet there are very few specific types of devices that don’t have some widely used app.  This might seem to be very shocking because most smart phones do have something in place in terms of mobile banking and payment apps.

However, Apple doesn’t really have an app that is going to allow them to do online banking or even have a mobile paying app but should mobile paying apps be used?  This is a big debate in the online world today for a good reason.  There have been many apps which may have looked good on the outside but have failed to provide the best security for its users.  This is what so many people are worried about today when it comes to sending and receiving money through apps.

The big debate has to be over whether all mobile paying apps are going to provide safety.  This means with all devices such as Google’s Samsung Galaxy as well as with Android and even the iPhone.  Google Wallet is there and that has been around though it isn’t widely used which is a little bit disappointing because it does seem to be the safest model out there right not.  However, the Google Wallet isn’t used everywhere and it doesn’t seem that there will be an expansion of this any time soon.

There is something which is very interesting however and that has to be that Apple has done nothing in terms of mobile payment apps.  They has basically sat back and let everyone else try out these kinds of apps and see what has evolved from there all.  It might be in indication that Apple might venture into these kinds of apps, maybe but it is not any confirmation because they haven’t made any official moves as yet.  Maybe Apple have been smart is avoiding mobile payment apps so far because unless the perfect app is released, these apps might not work out as everyone would like.
